Essaouira Day Trip:
We leave in the morning from Marrakech to Essaouira which is approximately 2.5 to 3 hours away. We stop for a break to discover the manufacture of argan oil from argan nuts in a cooperative, and you will take beautiful photos of goats on the Argan trees.;;
Arrive in Essaouira, a UNESCO World Heritage city known for its well-preserved historic medina, vibrant blue and white architecture and artistic atmosphere. Upon arrival, stroll through the charming medina.
Visit the bustling fishing port where you can watch fishermen at work and seagulls soaring overhead. Explore the medina’s various souks, where you can shop for local crafts, including intricate woodwork, silver jewelry, and colorful textiles. Don’t forget to visit the iconic Skala de la Ville, a historic fortress with panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean.
Essaouira is famous for its fresh seafood. Head to the port or the medina seafood market for a delicious lunch. Try some grilled sardines or the local specialty, “bastilla aux fruits de mer”, a tasty and flaky pastry filled with seafood.
After lunch, take a leisurely stroll along Essaouira’s vast sandy beach. Enjoy the soothing sound of the waves and perhaps take part in some seaside activities or water sports if you wish.
Essaouira is known for its vibrant art scene. Visit art galleries and workshops showcasing local crafts, like wood carving and painting.
