5 days tour from Marrakech to Zagora and Merzouga desert

Day 1: Marrakech to Ouarzazate

Your journey begins in Marrakech, where you will be greeted by your guide and begin the adventure through the High Atlas Mountains. The road offers breathtaking views passing through the Tizi n’Tichka pass. En route, you’ll explore UNESCO-listed Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified village with ancient kasbahs. Continuing towards Ouarzazate, known as the “Gateway to the Sahara”, you can visit the Atlas film studios and the historic kasbah of Taourirt. The day ends in Ouarzazate with a tasting of local meals and a relaxing night in a hotel.

Day 2: Ouarzazate to Zagora

The second day takes you deeper into the desert towards Zagora. Along the way, you will cross the Draa Valley, famous for its date palm groves and ancient kasbahs. In Zagora, explore the town and its surroundings while soaking up the local culture. The evening takes place in a traditional kasbah, allowing you to relax and imbibe near the palm groves.

Day 3: Zagora to Merzouga

Departing from Zagora, the journey continues towards Merzouga, passing through the arid landscapes of the pre-Saharan region. En route, you will discover the unique beauty of the Tafilalet oasis and perhaps visit the fossil workshops of Erfoud. Arriving in Merzouga, gateway to the Erg Chebbi dunes, you will take part in an exciting camel trek in the heart of the Sahara. The night is spent in a desert camp, where you will enjoy a traditional dinner, Berber music and the tranquility of the desert night.

Day 4: Merzouga – Exploring the desert

A day dedicated to discovering the wonders of the Merzouga desert awaits you. After a magical sunrise over the dunes, visit a nomadic family to learn about their traditional way of life. Later, venture to the village of Khamlia, known for its Gnaoua music. In the afternoon you have the option to relax at the camp or take an optional 4×4 tour to explore the diverse landscapes surrounding Merzouga. The evening once again brings the enchantment of the desert, with another night spent under the starry sky.

Day 5: Merzouga to Marrakech

At the end of the trip, say goodbye to the Sahara and return to Marrakech. The route takes you through Rissani, a town with bustling souks and historical significance. Cross Rissani and Touroug to arrive at the Todra gorges, here you will discover the beauty of the 300m cliffs, after lunch our journey will continue towards the Dadès valley, magnificent with its fields of rose bushes. Then we will visit the Amridil kasbah in Skura before crossing Ouazazate and the High Atlas to finish this magnificent 5-day journey from Marrakech to the desert.
